Wall Plaque

Standard

Hi Everyone

Todays post is this hanging wall plaque, I started it a while ago, but kept putting it on hold while I was making other bits, and now I have finally finished it.

I first saw the idea on Astrids Artisic Efforts and thought it looked really cool.

Hope you like it.

Blackboard paint

Standard

Hi Everyone

Over the last week I have had a little go of the Prima Chalkboard Paint available from Oyster Stamps. There are 12 colours to choose from, it takes a while to dry and is usable after 24hrs.

I have started with the traditional black just to see how it turned out, this is a small MDF tag that I have used for my trial run. I used Gesso on it first, then painted the front in black then when it was dry I did the back in pink, I got rather messy and the pink ended up going over the sides and you could see it from the front, which I didn’t like, so when that dried I re-painted the sides and back in black too. This looked very plain, so I decided to decorate it.

I wasn’t sure how this was going to work on a stamp, so I painted a piece of scrap card with black blackboard paint and let it dry. I chose Sea Breeze for my image, but had trouble getting a nice stamped look, the paint was going on to thick. I eventually found that the best way ( well for me anyway ), was to paint a couple of lines on a craft mat keeping the paint fairly thin and then use the 2nd and 3rd generation stamp.

I then drilled a hole through the chalk and tied with garden string.

blackboard

I was quite pleased with my first attempt, it’s nice that you can also write over the blue flowery bit as it’s all blackboard paint, just wipe the chalk off with a damp cloth.

I’m now happy to try a bigger version lol,

hope you have fun making one of these xx

Stamps by Ryn

Standard

Hi Everyone

Today I have been trying out the Flowers UM-M3 Designs by Ryn from Oyster Stamps

Taking a piece of Kraft card, I have used the 3 leaves as a background, and embossed them with clear embossing powder, then added distress inks, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door. I then sprayed some leaves from my stash, and a piece of garden string with Dylusions Chopped Pesto. I have chosen one flower from the collection and painted it with Silko’s added the string for a stem and a sentiment from my stash. The leaves on the side panel were embossed with gold and I added some string and a knot to finish.

There are 6 different flowers in this set, so I will try out some more later in week.

Christmas Tags

Standard

Hi Everyone

Well, I am off work now for a whole week so I am hoping to have a few days crafting, and catch up with some Christmas makes.

Here are a few more Christmas Tags that I have been making.

I have chosen paper with an Ivy pattern, then stencilled over it with an Ivy stencil. Added some liquid pearls, wooden embellishment and ribbon to finish.

Using the Martha Stewart branch punch I have adhered all of the branches to the back of my sentiment and added a bow. Distressed the edges with peeled paint, and added a bead and some ribbon to finish.

For this one I have stamped my sentiment then heat embossed it. Cut the Layered Poinsettia from red card and the used UTEE in a melt pot.

The leaves are made of wood which I have distressed with Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint, then added some liquid pearls to the centre of my flower.

Memory box 50th celebration die

Standard

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying out this Memory box die, as I have so many 50th celebrations coming up.

I thought it would be a good purchase, as I’m sure it will be well used in the next 12 months. I made this one for a friend this week and based it around one of Sue Wilsons demo’s, I have also used Creative expressions Finishing Touches Classic 3D bow, Filigree 3D bow and the border from the Italian Collection.

Single Heart Plaque

Standard

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my new viewers and followers,

Bev, Sue, Julie and Loz

I hope you all enjoyed the blog hop.

Today I have been working on this MDF heart plaque at a request from a friend, they wanted something for a keen gardener, so this is what I came up with, hope you like it.

garden heart

I started by covering the MDF heart with paper that had a wood grain effect, and drilled the holes with a 4mm drill bit. I used Vintage photo and Gathered Twigs around the edge. I then printed the verse and cut it out using  the Butterfly Square die by Tonic. To give it an aged look, I used Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain distress inks through the die before removing it. I have used a melt pot with UTEE and dipped the sentiment into it. The flower is from Bitty Blossoms, also dipped into UTEE. Using a glue gun to adhere the sentiment and flower in place. ( be careful if you try this, as the heat from the glue gun will melt the embossing powder, so speed is required). To finish off I have added some braid, beads and ladybirds from my stash.

So here goes,

My first tag, shabby chic style

mail box tag

As always, I have made my tag from Mountboard as I find this gives a bit of extra strength. The tag measures 8 x 3 5/8  (204mm X 93mm).

I have used heartfelt Creations raindrops on roses papers for my background and distressed the edges with seedless preserve and peeled paint, and have also used the   ‘Dream’ ticket

mail box top

The Mailbox is a new metal embellishment that has recently arrived at Oyster Stamps, made by Shabby Chic Treasures, using the ‘love’ sentiment from the paper pad I have made a template for the little mail sign, glued it in place and covered it with glossy accents.

mail box bottom

The flowers are heartfelt Creations Christmas poinsettia distressed with Victorian velvet and seedless preserve, and for the leaves I have used peeled paint and frayed burlap, and added a wink of stella in clear, I then added a few gems.

I have finished off with some raffia and a bead from my own stash.

My second Tag measures 6 1/2″  x  4″, I have recently been using the Heartfelt Creations  ‘All geared up’ collection, I have really enjoyed this one so I thought I would try it as a tag.

I started off with a white Mountboard tag and stamped the Cogs & Gears background stamp with versa mark, then used Burgundy red embossing powder and distressed over this with rusty hinge and Pine needles distress inks.

Using the Cogs and Gears dies I have cut links, flowers and cogs, distressed them with rusty hinge and pine needles, then added metallic lustre over the top. Added some torn paper from the paper pad in the collection and distressed it with the same colours, layered one piece over the cogs and used the other piece to mount the sentiment, also from the collection. Placed the links top and bottom and finished off with some garden string and a bead.

cogs tag

and finally, as Christmas is fast approaching, I just had to!

This tag is 5 3/4 x 4″

The backing paper is from Heartfelt Creations ‘ Once upon a time ‘ and has been distressed with Aged Mahogany and Frayed Burlap.

For the candles I would have liked to of used the memory box die – Shining Candles. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to get this in, so I have used an old embossing folder.  I then cut them out, covered the wax part with glossy accents and then onto the flames. I distressed these using Gathered Twigs and also covered them with glossy accents.

The flowers are again from Heartfelt Creations Christmas Poinsettia, I have used red velum and gold embossing powder,

The leaves are from Heartfelt Creations open leaf pre cut set, I have cut these from parchment paper and used gold embossing powder.

To finish, I have added some adhesive pearls by Scrapberrys, some ribbon and a bead.

All products are available via mail order or from the shop.

Thanks again to everyone, and good luck to all xx

All Geared up – Plates and Gears

Standard

Hi Everyone,

I have made this card tonight for Oyster Stamps, part of the Heartfelt all geared up collection, this one is from Plates and Gears, I love the colours, its quite simple but I like the effect.

I have used 6 x 6 card, paper from the pad, stamp from the plates and gears, and heat embossed in black embossing powder, then coloured with silks. I have distressed the edges with Black and Barn door distress inks. Using the dies I have buffed up the cogs and links using Iced Espresso metallic lustre. Cut the die in half and inserted the tag between them, and added garden string to finish off.
