Altered art MDF vintage tag

Standard

Hi Everyone

Today I thought I would try something a little different for me, I love making my MDF hearts and Mountboard tags, but I see lots of altered art things which really fascinate me, so I thought I would have a little go, I covered a wine bottle last week but didn’t blog it as it needed tweaking, but here is my effort for my MDF tag, hope you like it x

vintage tag

I have made this tag by covering the MDF with Gesso, then glueing some lace and random pieces such as beads wooden hearts and bits of old jewellery, I then sprayed it with Dylusions ink sprays, once dry, I added Americana acrylic paint in gold and mixed it with metallic silver, added a few words and sealed with Mod Podge clear acrylic sealer. and finished off with enchanted gold gilding wax on the embellishments.

Thanks for looking today, enjoy your weekend xx

Hearts made with Heartfelt flowers

Standard

Afternoon everyone,

Today I have made these two hearts, using chalky paints, I was only going to make one in this colour, but tipped out a wee bit too much paint lol, so I had to scoop some back into the pot and still had enough to make the second one. Chalky Paint goes such a long way !  So, the first one I covered the base with this lovely lilac colour called Remembrance and then using a sponge I randomly daubed the pink ( Innocence ) over the top. The second heart, I used the same colours but applied the pink first then daubed the lilac on top.

heartfelt poinsettia

When using MDF, don’t forget to use your Gesso first.

Once the chalky paint had been applied, I used dusty concord and Black Soot distress ink around the edges, then stamped my verse in black archival.

I added a flourish around the outside, using Versamark and clear embossing powder.

The flower is Heartfelt Delicate Aster which I also distressed with Dusty Concord and Black Soot, the leaves I distressed with Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint.

To finish off I added a Wink of Stella in clear and Glossy Accents to the leaves and flower, a piece of cord and some wooded beads which I also coloured with a Purple pro marker.

And my second heart of the day

heartfelt majestic morning

For this heart I have used a verse from Stampendous and then a Clarity stamp Hanging Vine which I embossed in white. Then distressed the edges going over the vines just to take the brightness out of the white.

The flowers are from Heartfelt Majestic Morning distressed with Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserve I added a touch of Wink of Stella in silver to the tips of the flowers and then once glued together I coated them with varnish and added a pearl to each one.

To finish off I added a wooden butterfly which I also coloured in Dusty Concord and silver Wink of Stella, added some cord and beads.

Thanks for popping in, enjoy the rest of your Sunday xx

Christmas wreath Heart

Standard

Hi Everyone

Sorry it’s been a while, I enjoyed a week off for half term but since I have been back to work life has gotten a bit hectic so I haven’t been very crafty this last week.

Here is my Christmas wreath MDF heart.

xmas heart

I used a seasons greeting backing paper and embossed the edges, for the leaves I used Martha Stewart branch punch and holly leaves and distressed them. The little cones I collected from the woods and just gave them a little wash. To finish I added a bow, some beads and some cord.

Feeling in a Christmas mood now x

Thanks for popping in xx

Using Ryn Stamps

Standard

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my new follower Sally.

I have made this card for Oyster Stamps, using the Designs by Ryn Stamps Flowers UM-M3

I have stamped the flowers and leaves with versa mark on to a sheet of velum, and embossed with lilac and gold embossing powders and then cut them out. I then used pro markers on the reverse side in Green Moss for the leaves, Azure, Aubergine and Tropical Orchid for the flowers. The frame is a Sue Wilson die Spanish Collection Seville and the sentiment from Quitefire.

I’m off to Sincerely Yours, Papercraft show at Tonbridge tomorrow and I am hoping to get some new ideas to share and I have started a shopping list lol.
