Leafy Branch

Standard

Hi Everyone

I have been designing MDF heart samples for Oyster StampsĀ  this weekend as you may of noticed lol. Here is my third design.

I have used the Heartfelt Creations Leafy Branch, there are two types of branches in this die set and I have used the second one on this heart and the other was on my previous heart a few days ago.

I love making these little flowers come to life.

heartfelt creations leafy branch2

I have used chalky paints on the MDF, then took a stencil and used 3D stamp paint.

heartfelt creations leafy branch1

I had this vase stamp in my stash and cut it from grey board, I used distressed inks on the branch and flowers, and I heat embossed the branch and vase with clear embossing powder. I added some flower soft to the centre of the flowers, cut a slit in the top of the vase and inserted the branch. then gave it a spritz of Prima Color Bloom in gold foil.

I added the wooden embellishment, some raffia and beads.

The beads I have coloured with a pro maker pen and while it was damp dipped it in some glitter then buffed it.

Hope you like this one

Enjoy your Sunday

Air Freshener MDF Heart

Standard

Hi Everyone

I wanted to try something a little different today with one of my hearts, so I have added an air freshener behind the back layer of paper and covered it with flowers and feathers, so it now has a lovely vanilla smell.

I have made this one for Oyster Stamps and you can purchase the following Items I have used from the shop.

MDF Hearts

Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Fleur Die code 2821

Distressed Inks

Prima Color Blooms

Firstly I cut an air freshener in half and glued it to my MDF heart, I then cut to shape my backing paper which was green gauze paper and from the centre I used a Spellbinders Medallion 3 to make the perforations.

sun kissed fleur

I made the flowers from the sun-kissed die andĀ  used Victorian Velvet and Evergreen Bough distress inks, once glued in placed I gave them a spritz of Prima Color in Glistening Waves.

I then tore in half my top paper made some random holes either side added the eyelets and peeled back the centre, I then threaded the ribbon and glued each side leaving the centre open. I distressed the edges with the same colours as above and added some Tea Dye and Black Soot.

I glued in place the feathers and flowers and added a wooden embellishment and liquid pearls to my flowers.

I finished of with some ribbon and beads.

Hearfelt creations Leafy Branch

Standard

Hi Everyone

I have just finished making this MDF heart sample for Oyster Stamps, using the new Heartfelt Creations Leafy Branch ( HCD1-757) which is now available from the shop.

I love the colour of these new dies, all girly pink, and these flowers are quite delicate, I have layered them up and coloured them with distress inks, for the branch I cut out two and glued them together, also coloured with distress inks. I chose my base paper and glued that in place, then distressed the edges, then glued down my second paper only to one side, and also distressed this, I added a sentiment from Justrite and some flowers to the outer edge using the Clarity Corner Berry stamp, then covered it with gilding flakes, I then rolled the remaining paper back and glued in my branch, and finished off with some raffia and beads.

4 drawer MDF chest

Standard

Hi Everyone

I have just finished putting the handles on my MDF mini chest, and would like to share the result with you. It is a four drawer chest from candy box crafts and comes in kit form.

You can decorate these in many ways, I have painted the chest with chalky paints ( as you may have gathered by now I love this stuff lol ) and then decorated it, using brusho’s, stamps and stencils, I plan to do another as I really enjoyed making this at Karen Clare’s craft time workshop.

For the front I have used a clarity stencil and added some butterflies.

and for the sides I have used Sheena Douglass and Heartfelt sentiment stamps.

Vintage heart

Standard

Hi Everyone

Today I have made this vintage heart, I love the colours on this one.

vintage heart

I covered the heart with patterned paper, then took another piece of paper and made a rip just off centre, before I glued it in place I distressed the edges with walnut stain, vintage photo and black soot. Then rolled the edges back and added my flowers and feathers to the middle.

vintage heart2

I covered the small wooded heart with Victorian velvet distress ink and added a sprinkle of fine glitter, the ‘with love’ was covered with a glaze and I also added glitter to this, to finish off I glued the black sequins to the edge and threaded beads on to my raffia.

Picture Frame

Standard

Hi Everyone

Just before Christmas my sister in-law gave me a bag of old picture frames, just what I needed for my up cycling collection I thought.

so out came the Gesso!!

gold frame before

Once the Gesso was dry, I used chalky paints in Lace and rouge and daubed randomly over the frame, and finished off with a coat of triple thick gloss glaze.

I then cut a piece of mountboard to fit the frame and covered it with embossing paste. Once dry, I painted it with lace chalky paint and used the same pattern for the middle.

I used Gesso on three wooden hearts and glazed these too, then added Live, Love, Laugh to each one.

And here is the result

The little pegs on the back were all broken, so I had to glue it in place.

Pringles

Standard

Hi Everyone,

Just lately I have taken to a bit of up cycling, if it don’t move it’s getting Gesso’d!!Ā  haha

So I used this Pringle tube, some odds & ends and here it is,

pringle tube before altered art pringle tube2

I covered it with Gesso, and glued bits on with Mod Podge, I have used the stringy bag that the tangerines came in and some bubble wrap that came out of a present, some string and some plaster board tape.

I made some flowers and leaves and layered some of them up. covered it all again with Gesso, then painted it all with rustic and heirloom chalky paints. Once dry I randomly sprayed it with some dylusions inks. Added some gilding flakes, gilding wax and 3d stamp paint, then a spray of acrylic sealer to finish off.

I enjoyed making this, but now I need donations of pringle tubes so I can make a few more, as it is now the season of diets!! no more pringle eating for me lol x

Altered Art Canvas

Standard

Hi Everyone

Well this is my last holiday weekend, I’m not looking forward to going back to work on Tuesday.

I would love to stay at home and craft, but we can’t have it all lol.

I bought a cheap canvas and it’s been sitting in the cupboard for months ( like a lot of other things )!

So I have spent my last weekend having a go at this little mixed media project.

I really enjoyed making this one, very messy and a fairly long process waiting for Mod Podge, Gesso and paste to dry between layers, I did help it along a little with the heat tool, but still left it over night before adding colour mediums.

I was very pleased with the overall effect, always a ‘but’ with me haha, as this was my first one there are always things you find out along the way and would do differently next time.

Definitely work on the outlay first, gather everything you want to add so it’s all ready when you want to start, But I made this up as I went along then spent ages looking for bits, even raiding Hubbies odds & ends box for washers and screws, he didn’t have much so I need to send him to the man shed to find me a little stash love him x

altered art canvas 4 altered art canvas 2

I have used a mixture of Dylusions ink sprays, DecoArt media fluid Acrylics and Americana Metallic’s.

I felt this bit wasnt quite right, the large heart with the mail box, it just didn’t come together, but I had already glued it down by then and was worried about ripping it off, never mind we live and learn. I’m defiantly going to buy some more and have another go, It was such messy fun x

Happy creating

ok its been a few days now, and I decided to remove the mail box with a heat tool and replaced it with some leaves.

Now I’m happy lol xx

Mini Album with Toilet roll

Standard

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year.

I have enjoyed a couple of weeks off work and to be honest I have been rather lazy in the craft room over the festive period, but time to get going now. I fancied having a go at something I hadn’t tried before so I searched the net and watched a few you tube video’s and found the mini album using the centres of toilet rolls.

After having made this one, I found there are a few things I would do differently next time, such as using thinner paper to cover my roll, as the paper I used was very thick and needed cutting down a little more to make it fit into the sleeve, I didn’t have any rings so I have used ribbon for now, but I think some rings would work better when opening the album as these can become quite bulky once you start adding your emelishments.

I have made this with my Mum in mind ready for Mothers Day

This is the front and back cover
